Quality and Product Safety

At ED & F Man Molasses and ED & F Man Liquid Products quality is not just a term. Commitment to quality is deep-rooted and has long been an investment priority. From the source to the final destination, the entire process is executed and managed via a group wide harmonised Business Management System addressing not only animal feed but also food, fermentation and agglomeration industry requirements.

Structured in accordance with ISO 9001 standards and fully compliant to all applicable legal and industry standards (GMP, FEMAS, HACCP and all legal European regulations), this system ensures that product quality is controlled in the entire chain and product safety is regularly verified at different stages in the process. It goes without saying that also customer requirements are addressed.

Cornerstones of the product safety management system:

Supplier Evaluation:
A Supplier Visit plan is executed annually, where suppliers in origin countries as well as in Europe are visited, audited and evaluated. All suppliers are rated based on the scoring during these visits, evaluations and their performance, ensuring only the best performing suppliers are used.

Hygiene Management:
Strict hygiene inspections and checks are embedded in our processes during storage, handling and sea, rail or road transport.

Product Safety Analysis:

Independent accredited laboratories perform safety analysis on all product imported into the European Union by checking levels of undesirable substance present. Product purchased in Europe is also monitored according an analysis plan. As we are the only group doing this to this extent, only we can provide assurance that all products we sell are safe. In these days a comforting thought to you and your customers.

Traceability:

All companies within the group operate the same business system in which all business trading and logistics is documented. This makes us able to deliver full traceability by just one simple query for any given time period, product, supplier or customer.

Continuous Improvement:
Of course we continuously critique ourselves by performing independent internal audits. Also the certification institute used by us for our company certifications is continuously challenged to provide feedback for improvement. In addition, in case where you feel we might not have performed to your expectations we do use this information to evaluate room for improvement. A dedicated team of quality staff throughout the organisation shares best practices and works to further improvement.
